the Thoreau Log.
8 May 1853. Concord, Mass.

Thoreau writes in his journal:

  P. M.—To Annursnack.

A low row of elms just set out by Wheeler from his gate to the old Lee place. The planting of so long a row of trees which are so stately and may endure so long deserves to be recorded . . .

(Journal, 5:126-130)
