  Another great fog this morning, which lasts till 8.30 . . .

  P.M.—To Conantum via Clamshell Hill and meadows . . .

  I go along through J. Hosmer’s meadow near the river, it is so dry. I see places where the meadow has been denuded of its surface within a few years . . .
